LUCES

like a bird ;in languor roosts while  the sun sets lazily
clouds acquiescing
in the dusking sky.
i'm out of breath, i sigh.

like fireflies; little luces in the dark,
they too, cease to  glow
i mourn for them as they die.

like a moth, adoring the moon
and in a loop it flies
but the lights will devour
and slowly disappear
from my sight.

like a wild flower, waiting for the sun's kiss
languidly wilts in the shadows of lofty trees
transcribed memories  will be trodden
away and rot.

falter not,
illuminating my plight
as dusk devours the light.

The old days

I remember the old days , and i remember you. I gaze upon the sky, but it has changed, the stars are gone. Then I remember the countless nights i was gazing at you.. Like watching the stars for the first time. But the moon is caught in procrastination; while the sun is a captive of storm and rain. Becoming frail but i won't fail til happy endings show its face like in the old days. ©jenh2019

TIME

time flies... so swift and i am frail,i can't compete. with broken wings, i doubt if I can even touch the heaven's gate . time flows... so freely as it melds with the sea. i doubt if i can keep afloat, the water is wide and deep perhaps i will perish. time runs out... and i am starting to cringe, as darkness beckons , will I ever find the light?

1993

How painful it is to realize that ...
we can't be enough for someone to stay,
and even more painful when we seem to be  at a distance when we can be closer; to hear their aches  to listen so keenly that we don't care about ourselves anymore, to comfort and ease their loads..but we are denied of the chances of giving.
So ironic as we often tell ourselves the possibility that we can do all things driven by faith and love alone;
but this life is so full of screaming dark walls.

I want to go back to a place called 1993.

Cross

I was told that I was born to bear a cross;
not a typical one but a towering mammoth.
Ah! this world is chaos.

I was cautioned to brace myself,
To learn to wield a dagger and
to wear a cloak.

I was told there's evil
and I saw one glaring  laughing in silence.
That evil hears each cries, and celebrates for every soul it baits

I was told that the sea is but flames and smoke
that it chars the unwitting fools and choke.

I was told to not drown in fear
but swim with all my might and sear.
down its seabed is sepulcher
one has to say a prayer.

I was told to find the light and hold onto it until the end
to endure til death.

INSOMNIA

it's 8:35, night time and my mind is rather pregnant with black and white.
bizarre cut up emotions queue up for their turn
my eyes well with tears,
but ain't enough to drown my fears,
not enough  to redeem a soul in torment.

it's 9:12 and Ghosts appearing right before me,perhaps my mind is getting hazy.
I miss  the stars and the moon;
maybe tomorrow they wont stood me up.
I feel i'm dying as i see myself
crumble as the night deepens...

it's 3am...
staying  awake is the only cure
watching the Grim Reaper struts a pompous scene
to lure my soul to step unto the  forbidden,
I stand firm,
not blinking an eye, nor falling asleep
let me stay awake Oh God, until my son wakes up.

The Wanderer

how faint was your voice,
screaming of life .
with only darkness embracing thy sight
how wee was my likeness then?
when bleakness stole thy hope
and sadness feasted on every hour of thy waking hour
it seemed the moon was in her deep sleep,
for it never shone its light
she failed to kiss the fireflies...
souls  wander en masse ;
I hear them sigh and cry...
I remember thee my Child.

The Sacred One

you came...
with a loud roaring thunder
filling my eardrum,
'twas deafening.
your muted cries were the only music playing.
you told me you came to sing me your song,
and your gaze was lightning piercing my soul.
a violent one in my sullen room.
...you came to save my soul.

Unfathomable

your heart slowly shriveled,
and I was afraid.
I felt your breath,
your last gasps.
as I say my prayer
and ask of God that you may live
but...
your limbs stiffens
as you gaze at the haze;
I hear you cry ,so faint in the stillness of the night
the still small voice though mighty has lose its strength
that unfathomable pain gnaws  every bit of you
and i cry for you.
